From a young age, Paul Askew was deeply influenced by his mother, a singer, as he immersed himself in community choirs and stage performances. His musical inspirations span a diverse range of artists such as Brandy, Carl Thomas, Giveon, Usher, Jazmine Sullivan, The Clark Sisters, Smokie Norful, Leandria Johnson, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, and Stevie Wonder. Paul's passion for music transcends any specific genre.
Despite grappling with depression, substance abuse, multiple attempts at suicide, a physical disability, and the profound loss of his mother, Paul experienced a spiritual and emotional resurgence, leading him back to music in 2021. Establishing his personal record label, PaulPaul Music, he became its inaugural artist. Paul is now dedicated to sharing his profound experiences, feelings, and devotion to God, humanity, and life itself.
Paul’s debut single “Save Me” soared to the top spot on the Billboard Gospel Internet Charts in May 2022. His album, Book of Paul, is a contender for a Grammy for Best Gospel Artist. Beyond music, Paul has partnered with Nigerian designer David Mando to create the King Paul Askew Collection, a men's clothing line.
