SELF-TAUGHT MANIAC SHOWCASE NEW ALBUM 'A BRIEF MOMENT'

Jörgen Barkefors, the founder of the band Self-taught Maniac has found his way back to playing alto saxophone after an almost 20 year long pause. This gave new energy and extended sonic possibilities to his music creation. In a relatively short period of time he also completed the setup with soprano saxophone, clarinet and bass clarinet.

With very different musical role models like Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Gino Vanelli and Bill Evans, his music has elements of soul, funk and jazz and is evolving over time.

Exciting harmonies are combined with engaging lyrics. Songs are sometimes in Swedish and sometimes in English, depending on mood and what springs out of mind

With the addition of accomplished musicians Thomas Ström on bass, Johan Fleetwood and Joakim Lindholm on guitars the project is moving steadily forward. The latest EP features two beautiful songs with thoughts around life and death

Lately a side project has emerged with a scaled down live act. Vocals/horns, guitar and bass, where they will perform the same songs but with slightly  different arrangements. Wether you hear their recordings or see them live, you won't be disappointed"
